  1. Drive mechanism for tubes through testing bench
  2. Roller wheel – measuring of the tube linear movement (there are photo sensors at the input and output for checking presence of the tube)
  3. Centering device – there are photo sensors at the input and output for checking presence of the tube
  4. Rotating head (RPM 2000/s max.)
  5. Centering device – there are photo sensors at the input and output for checking presence of the tube
  6. Roller wheel – measuring of the tube linear movement (there are photo sensors at the input and output for checking presence of the tube)
  7. Drive mechanism for tubes through testing bench
  8. Marking of defects (longitudinal, transverse and dimensional)

Parameters of Rotating Head

ultrasonic-inspecion-seamless-tubes-02

  • Rotation speed, max. 2000 RPM
  • O.d, of tubes to be inspected 15 to 65 mm
  • Test speed for ??L?? defects only, max. 50 m/min.
  • Test speed for ??L?? and ??T?? defects, max. 12 m/minute

Ultrasonic System DiO 2000

Ultrasonic channels are intended as independent ultrasonic plug-in units with their own microprocessor control and signal processing. Plug-in units are built in the 19?? rack, together with supply sources.

Functioning of the System

  • ON LINE display of all channels
  • Data base, possibility of print output
  • Saving testing data and calibration settings
  • Statistical processing of testing data
  • Communication with parent system via serial line and/or ETHERNET network

Channel Unit DiO 2000 SF

Transmitter

  • Location: in each channel unit
  • Transmitted pulse voltage: 250V, 50 Ohm load
  • Transmitted pulse width: 60 ns – 1 ms
  • Triggering of the transmitted pulse: internal, external
  • Synchronization of the transmitted pulse: automatic from control PC
  • Offset of the transmitted pulse: 0ns – 10ms
  • Max. transmitter pulse repetition rate: 10Hz to 10kHz
  • Pulse frequency range: High frequency: 0,5 MHz to 20 MHz, Low frequency: 50 kHz to 500 kHz
  • Applicability: single and dual transducers
  • Output impedance of the transmitter: adjustable from 30 to 1000 Ohm, steps

Receiver

  • Location: in each channel unit
  • Max. echo-signal output voltage: 1 VPP
  • Workable echo-signal input voltage: < 1 VPP to >1 mVPP / 100 % screen
  • Dynamic range: 99,9 dB
  • Time base extension: 10000 mm in steel
  • Gain linearity: 1 %
  • Frequency band of the receiver: High frequency: 0,5 MHz to 20 MHz, Low frequency: 50 kHz to 500 kHz
  • Input impedance of the receiver: adjustable 30 to 1000 Ohm

Digital processing of measured data

Evaluation

  • Using built-in microprocessor for amplitude and time comparison
  • Evaluation at leading edge or peak value in chosen monitor (gate)
  • Statistical suppressing
  • Data compression
  • DAC module
  • A-scan

Noise reject – 0 to 80% of signal

Three gates (monitors) with analog to digital interface

Threshold levels – 1 in each gate

Triggering the gates – derived from initial pulse or chosen echo (echo-start)

Measurement accuracy of the channel

  • Amplitudes for testing defects: ±1% related to 10 MHz signal
  • Time for measuring dimensions: ±1 mm related to velocity in steel / ferritic steel at frequency 10 MHz

Input testing and measurements parameters

  • using the computer via RS 232/RS422

Set-up of the complete testing system

  • manually via control computer / using presets (some previous testing) using saved parameters
